Do You Know What True Freedom Feels Like?

Now I'm not talking about the foundation of Western Democracy - Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, and so forth. The freedom to choose where you will live, what level of education you will have, where you will study, what you will do for a living, or whom you will date. Nor am I talking about any personal preferences. In Western Society, we use the term freedom in such a wide variety of ways as to obscure the true meaning of freedom.

As Christians, we often quote that we have freedom from sin through faith in Jesus Christ. That no addiction can enslave us. For if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.

That is all well and good. But do you know true freedom?

True Freedom often comes through times of great trials, through times when you are ready to throw in the towel and give up your faith.

It becomes real when you are at a crossroads in life and you can no longer quote the words of the Bible or talk about what Jesus can do but you have to step forward grasping hold of Jesus himself. Not the historical Jesus but the Messiah Jesus.

Many Christians who have been tortured for their faith in Jesus will testify that they had to cross over from learning all about Jesus to begging the Holy Spirit to allow them to truly surrender all and experience true intimacy with God.

Head knowledge only goes so far. Being totally in love and dependent upon Jesus 24/7/366 (leap year) is when we experience true freedom. It isn't easy but true freedom always carries a heavy price tag. One in which you never have to pay. He gave his life on Calvary to enable you to fully give your life to him!
