Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matthew 24:44
Snow! Snow! And more Snow! As I got off the plane early Saturday morning, I was greeted with a very snowy welcome.
I greeted one of the workers on the tarmac at Charlottetown Airport with this greeting - "Welcome to Canada! Welcome to Hockey Weather!" Needless to say, I was greeted with a big smile and a laugh.

As my son and I were exercising or over-exercising our muscles trying to navigate the recently fallen flakes, I got to thinking about how the physical and spiritual are connected.

As Canadians, and especially Maritimers, we have come to expect periods of snow in January or February (I hesitate to mention any other months. Lol). We prepare for winter far in advance - we get as much firewood ready as possible, we get our furnaces checked, our oil topped up, our backup generators prepared, snow tires on the car and the list goes on.
We know that it is not a matter of "if the snow will come, but when and how much".
Sometimes, we even join a fitness club to physically prepare to attack the mountain of snow that the snow plow lovingly deposits at the end of our driveway.

As we were shoveling, it felt as if the Lord was saying to me, "How many people do you think put as much preparation into their relationship with God and the spiritual preparation each one of us needs to face the spiritual storms we encounter in life.?"

Luke 12:35-36
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.

As I was huffing and puffing away, my son and I began to discuss this question and agreed that this would make a great post.
So, if you were asked whether you put more effort into preparing to battle winter and the snow storms that come than you do putting effort into preparing spiritually for the daily challenges of living for Jesus...What would your answer be?
Which do you put more effort into preparing for?
0%Winter snowstorms?
0%Being prepared to live for Jesus?
